I work in a building that overlooks the airport and 494. Having watched Air Force One land many times, I have observed a couple things that really piss me off. Watching the landing process I watched how the state, county, and city cops close all local roads for the motorcade. Now I understand you are trying to swing this state of minnesota with all its liberals that all hate america, but do you really think you and fuckin "w" can come here all the time (5 times this year) and not fly from the airport to your location in a helicopter? You do it all the time in the white house lawn. Its so dramatic. Oh wait so is closing down the twin cities main traffic veins during rush hour.

But no, you use up our state funding to spread your bullshit message across our state. We pay for you to close up every crossroad on 494 15 miles east and west. posting a cop at every intersection while you promote your agenda and while people wait to go pick up their childeren at daycare while the meter runs and perhaps their house is robbed because of the lack of police enforcement (they are making sure no on gets onto 494.) You wouldn't know about that, because that is middle class americans, people you have long forgotten asshole. Frankly it is getting old and I hope you are losing more votes than gaining in my state.

Most importantly, as if closing these roads is bad enough during the day, the fact that you chose to parade around during evening rush hour I am sure made a lot of people say "fuckin dick!" I throughly enjoyed my 45 minute drive (should take 15) home on a road that is not even close to 494 at fucking 4pm. Not all of us can shoot someone in the face with a shotgun when traffic gets slow. I can only imagine those people who rely on roads closer to 494.

So you can see why I get angry, paying for you to parade around in an unneccesary motorcade, during rush hour, in the twin cities, promoting a upper class agenda, while people like me drive home thinking please oh please is it 2008 yet?

THE BIGGEST FUCKING BIRTHDAY PARTY ICING ON THE CAKE, IS THE FACT THAT YOU DID ALL THIS TO ATTEND A PRIVATE FUNDRAISER AT A DISTRICT LEVEL. NEW YORK (CNN) -- President Bush this week urged Congress to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, at a time when the United States faces some of the greatest challenges in our nation's history.

So, logically, what could possibly better ensure the prosperous and bright future of working men and women and their families than for the Senate to work on a constitutional amendment that is guaranteed to fail?

It's clear that cynical, patronizing White House political strategists are trying to rally a conservative base that they believe is more base than conservative. They're wrong on all counts.

We're fighting a war against radical Islamist terrorists with ongoing campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, we're drowning in debt from our growing record trade and budget deficits and we're watching our public education system fail a generation of students. Congress has yet to act on an effective solution to our illegal immigration crisis as millions of illegal aliens flood our borders every year, and our nation's borders and ports are still woefully insecure, four and a half years after the September 11 attacks.

I believe most Americans are far more concerned about their declining real wages and the lack of real creation of quality jobs than the insulting insertion of wedge issues into the national dialogue and political agenda.

But President Bush and the Senate have decided they should take up a constitutional ban of gay marriage. Polls tell us most of us oppose gay marriage. Those same polls are also shouting to our elected representatives in Washington that we want real leadership and real solutions to real problems.

The president and the Senate's Republican leadership are now claiming that an amendment to our Constitution is necessary to save the American family. No matter how you feel about the issue, and many of us feel deeply, a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage is utter and complete nonsense. It's an insult to the intelligence of every voter, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative.

The president and the Senate are focusing on one of the few reasons that has not been proven to cause divorce. They instead should look to financial hardships, and the lack of communication about family finances. The median family income is stagnating while gasoline costs and higher interest rates are eating up the family budget.

Nor is the Senate looking at the national tragedy of out-of-wedlock births: In seven states, more than 40 percent of our children are born out of wedlock. Nationally, more than one out of three of our children are born to unmarried parents.

Both political parties love to excite and enliven their so-called "bases" by focusing on wedge issues like gay marriage, abortion, gun control, school prayer and flag burning. Both the Republicans and Democrats raise these issues to distract and divert public attention from the pressing issues that affect our way of life and our nation's future.

Are these wedge issues really how Congress should be spending its time, especially given how little time politicians spend in Washington, D.C., these days? I'd rather see our 535 elected representatives and this president use their time to combat poverty, fix our crumbling schools, secure our broken borders and ports and hold employers accountable for hiring illegal aliens. And like millions of Americans, I am desperate for a resolution to our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

How can we tolerate elected officials who press wedge issues when 37 million people in the United States live in poverty, one in every eight Americans? Almost 18 percent of children under the age of 18 live in poverty -- 13 million children.

Nearly 46 million people live without health insurance, about 16 percent of the population, a number that has risen by 6 million since 2000. More than one in 10 children are uninsured, and one-quarter of people with incomes below $25,000 also lack any health insurance.

College costs are skyrocketing. There's been a 40 percent jump (inflation-adjusted) in tuition and fees at public four-year colleges and universities over the past five years, according to the College Board. The costs for brand-name prescription drugs have also increased twice as fast as the rate of inflation. In fact, over the past six years, the average rise in the price of brand-name drugs is 40 percent, according to the AARP.

But while these increases in the price of the basics make it harder for hard-working men and women to make ends meet, the president and Congress would rather drive wedge issues than work toward real solutions.

I wonder if the president's political advisers know just how ill-advised and smarmy this wedge issue looks to the millions of us who want solutions to the critical, urgent problems facing this nation. Worse, I wonder if they even care.

Peppermint schnapps he responded...it kinda tastes like cinnamon. I said sorry, but does it look like I live in a trailer court? Once I found out there was real gold in it, and that I would be shitting gold the next day I was in. The thing is that the second shot was poured into a glass and the server gave us the largest shot ever purchased at a bar. It had to be at least 8oz. {notice all the popcorn in the machine we were the only ones eatin it, compare it to pictures later on}

I finished smallville early this week, I know there was a mild obsession there for a while. Regardless some discs ago, when Clark went to Metrpolis to try out for Kansas State football, they showed a skyline of Minneapolis and the metrodome. They then continued to film inside the dome....stupid toliet looking thing. Anyways I was going to blog about it then sent the disc back. On the final disc they were scrolling through a list of names of graduating seniors and look below, who was part of smallville high? None other than Scott Bader!! Though the original emo scenes were not exclusionary, the modern "emo" scene has developed into a "gay friendly" scene. Though it's unclear whether it's related to the diminished "macho" elements of emo music or the "gay friendly" nature of the scene, it has become commonplace for detractors to use "emo" in combination with popular gay slurs, such as "emo fag".

While use of the term "emo" to describe the dress and attitudes of some fans of emo music, it should be noted that use of "emo" as a musical genre and "emo" as a slang term are largely separate. "Emo" as a musical genre long pre-dated the use of "emo" as a slang term, while most modern bands labelled "emo" are done so unwillingly, and largely because they share some of the fashion trends and attitude associated with "emo" as a slang term.

There is also a common myth that associates self harm with "emo". The link may stem from the association of negative emotions with the emo subculture.

Wild WI Wedding

Its gonna be hard to sum up sat night in a blog post, it was truly an experience you had to witness first hand. I was at a wedding in Cumberland, WI with a bunch of college friends. It was a party truly out of this world. When we got to the reception as we were walking in, Bill said "Good luck everyone" and also, It has best been described as:

Why not start the photo collage experience with a wasted one, Char and I, looking about 6-7 hours into the journey.

{Looara shaking a leg} On the way to the bar, one of the bridesmaids told me and looara that we had really stellar dancing moves, I knew I did, that was a given, but looara always likes to hear positive feedback on her drunken inbalances and disturbed equalibrium.

It was great to see Karisa, it has been a couple of years, and it was great. I warned her long before the alcohol starting making me do foolish things, that I was going to "tear up the dancing floor with a crowbar" and I did with her and the help of others.

You can see we were a little drunk. This picture will be the low down on my drinking on this phenomenal night. I am just guessing, and help me out the those of you who were here, but I remember drinking iron butterflies like they were going out of style. I recall drinkin at least of dozen of these. This was my longest drinkin binge in a while at about 12.5 hours. It was champagne, wine, iron butterflies, potpourri of wedding style shots, rounds and rounds of car-bombs, and free keg beer. I also had to add alternating water that I claimed was the savior to my incredible binge.

-surprisingly the only picture that night with her eyes closed. good thought, lets not wreck photos of this special occasion....much appreciated.

Looara, Phil and I after the reception at the corner bar. Why we went here I have no idea, we didn't need to drink anymore, but we did, and did and did some more. Looara and I left, but not after experiencing some good old fashioned WI style bar time. Saw a ton of under ages, and continued to....drink.

As you can clearly see, these are 1 dollar bills and not the five dollar bill that is referenced below.

This crumpled up 5 dollar billed fell out of char's bra the next morning. I think I was keeping my money in my crotch at the corner bar after the reception.

Char the next morning, lets just say that parts of her bed will be burned by hotel staff. I have known Char for 5-6 years, and I have never, NEVER, see her as drunk as she was, I am so proud of you Char!!!

I don't know where the fuck the square dancing entered the whole scheme of things, but I sure hope the hell I was just taking pictures and not taking part in such disgusting activities.

The Aftermath of our room. Good luck it was in Char's name, she is going to be on a black list forever, especially after they told us they were calling the cops at 3-4ish am.

But it is OK because we left some cash for the maid, and a clever note. Hopefully our wit put a smile on her face as she scrubbed our room with bleach.

I stole these letters from the reception hall. Looara was supposed to be keeping guard but didn't even see the girl behind her in a truck, not five feet away, watching me do my dirty deed.

Interestingly, there's even a bit of negativity around Apple's richly priced stock. At $76, it's up about 10-fold since early 2003. Commenting on two expected software offerings from Microsoft, Citigroup's Gardner writes: "Our first look at Vista and Windows Media 11 suggests that these products should substantially close the gap with Mac OS X and iLife in a number of key respects." How funny. Microsoft is closing the gap with Apple, and so investors ought to be concerned, Gardner suggests.

Democrats block Alaska oil drilling

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Democrats succeeded on Wednesday in blocking, for now, oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, which Republicans sought to add to a massive $453 billion war-time military spending bill.

The ANWR refuge, which sprawls along Alaska's northern coast and may hold 10 billion barrels of oil, has been the focus of bitter wrangling in the U.S. Congress for more than two decades.

Most Senate Democrats and some moderate Republicans said the frigid wilderness and its assortment of wildlife, ranging from polar bears to peregrine falcons, should be protected. Republicans said ANWR must be unlocked for drilling to stop a steady slide in U.S. crude oil production.

Republican Ted Stevens of Alaska attached the measure to the unrelated defense bill which sets spending for the military and Pentagon weapons programs in the coming year.

Although few politicians wanted to be seen rejecting a bill that pays the salaries of U.S. soldiers in Iraq, furious Democrats and a half-dozen Republicans who have long opposed ANWR drilling conducted extended debate, known as a filibuster, to delay its passage.

The Republican majority failed to get the required 60 votes in the 100-member chamber needed to cut off debate. The vote was 56-44.

"It is a real victory for the environmental movement all throughout this country," said Democrat Dianne Feinstein of California, who opposed drilling in the refuge.

Leaders of both parties huddled to figure out the next step for the military funding bill.

"ANWR has got to come out (of the defense bill)," said Republican Trent Lott of Mississippi, whose state stands to gain vast amounts of Hurricane Katrina reconstruction aid also in the bill.

Another Republican, Jeff Sessions of Alabama, said he was disappointed that ANWR drilling was blocked but the overall defense bill needed to be passed.

But Stevens, who has fought since the 1980s to pry open ANWR, indicated he would not give up easily.

"I want you to know we're going to be here until (New Years Day) ... We're going to stay here until this is finished," Stevens said just before the vote. "I can't go home for Christmas. I've already canceled (airplane tickets)."

Folks,

So I know when I started this blog, it was way more personal and I would blah blah blah about this and blah blah blah about that. I know it has become more of a political blog lately, but it is just my way of expressing my utter discontent for Bush and all his little stupid republican pawns. So here you go, a personal blog entry//

Work is work, 50+ hours a week, as I am the project manager for the 7.0 release. Don't ask how, I don't even know why I was put in charge. My contract is up the third week in Jan, and they want to extend it another 6 months. That doesn't make me happy, so I have been applying for other jobs. My favorite one so far is for the Science Museum. Designing the exhibits, and the marketing collateral and advertising. I hope that I get it//

I am pretty excited for the holidays, as I got really great gifts for everyone. Speaking of, you should all know by now that I am fairly good for gifts on birthdays in such, so if anyone would like a wish list from me, just ask. lol!!! biatches//

So I think loooara fell off the face of the earth, if anyone see's her quick take a photograph so I know she's not MIA.//

I pushed back my GRE test until the end of Feb, with work, there is no way I would have been ready. I have been studying about 2-3 a week, and that test is going to be mean//

Arthur King-Robinson said he put the bet on at odds of 6/1 at the start of the year because his wife would have faced an inheritance tax bill of 3000 pounds had he died in the intervening period.

"I thought I'd heard most things that people want to bet on after 30 years in the business," said Graham Sharpe, spokesman for bookmaker William Hill. "But one asking literally to place a dead cert was unique. I'm glad Arthur has lost."

King-Robinson had feared that his wife Cynthia, 85, would have to sell the home they had lived in for 50 years in southwest England if she had been hit by the tax bill.

Great Lakes near ecological breakdown: scientists

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Stresses from polluted rivers to invasive species threaten to trigger an ecological breakdown in the Great Lakes, a group of scientists hoping to sway U.S. environmental policy said on Thursday.

Seventy-five scientists who study the world's largest collective body of fresh water released their report on the myriad problems that need cleanup or restoration ahead of two key policy announcements next week.

"This is just a critical period for the Great Lakes," Andy Buchsbaum, director of the National Wildlife Federation's Great Lakes office, said about next week's announcements.

A task force comprising federal agencies, Congress, local government officials and regional Indian tribes is scheduled to release its much-anticipated final plan for preserving the Great Lakes requested by U.S. President George W. Bush in 2004.

The body's preliminary report in July recommended $20 billion in federal, state and private funding over 15 years to upgrade antiquated municipal sewer systems, restore 500,000 acres of wetlands, clean polluted harbors and bays, and pay for other efforts.

But a federal oversight group subsequently suggested to the White House that the budget was too tight to allow additional funding. Federal spending on Great Lakes cleanup over the past decade was $800 million, according to the Government Accountability Office.

After the task force releases its plan on Monday, governors representing U.S. states and Canadian provinces that border the Great Lakes will announce revisions to century-old rules that restrict water withdrawals and diversions from the lakes. More than 30 million people rely on the Great Lakes for drinking water, and large-scale diversions to far-off states or countries have been forbidden.

Threats to the Great Lakes are converging, scientists who worked on the report said.

"There's widespread agreement that the Great Lakes are under tremendous stress," said Alfred Beeton of the University of Michigan. "Toxic substances ... overfishing, invasive species, changes in hydrology affecting rivers -- now we can add the effects of global climate change.

"These have been dealt with individually. What we need to do is look at the ecosystem -- the combination of stresses," Beeton said. "Historical sources of stress have combined with new ones and we have arrived at a tipping point. What we mean is that ecosystem changes will occur rapidly and unexpectedly."

The report emphasized the need for large-scale ecosystem restoration and not piecemeal efforts, coauthor Don Scavia said. Particularly important was preserving or restoring shoreline "buffer zones," such as wetlands and lake tributaries to help the lakes heal themselves.

"These are the key areas for filtering the contaminants that enter the lakes. It's also where most of the wildlife habitat is," Scavia said.

Shoreline pollution that fouls Great Lakes beaches is extending into the middle of some of the five Great Lakes, sudden drops in oxygen levels in the water threaten native species, and native fish have been crowded out by invasive species that have changed the character of the lakes, the scientists added.

i come home from a long day at work, and a short happy hour.... we have the second real snow. i think, i am going snowboarding.... so i go to east terrace oaks park... one car there, wait a second one pulling up, yep a drug car, waiting for the drop. i get out....

i suck down the rest of my can of leinies, (don't worry, there is a flask in my pocket, i come prepared) i strap on the board for the first time in over a year. man another month and a half a year ago and i will be uses crutches for four months. didn't see many people during that time, only my roomate john, and liz and melissa... the rest i guess didn't care.. man walking feels good. how's california melissa? colorado liz? man i miss you guys.....

the 1st run isn't long, about 2 seconds, enough for me to yearn for the next. I practice my 180's trying to make it to the next decline.... i don't, unstrap, walk.

it's beautiful, snow is starting to fall, big flakes, the trees are dark black with a blanket of snow, the ground, a perfect contrast of white on black, i can see my breath....on my death bed, will i remember this wonderful moment?

Friends,

I just thought we should all pause for a moment today to remember the simple act of courage, defiance and dignity committed by Rosa Parks when she refused to move to the back of the bus because the law said she had the wrong skin color. The greatest moments in history, the ones that have truly mattered and have taken us to a better place, are made up of scores of these singular acts by ordinary, everyday people who could no longer tolerate the crap and the nonsense of those in charge.

Today, whether it is a student who holds a sit-in to get the army recruiters off his campus, or the mother of a dead soldier who refuses to leave the front gate of the president's ranch, we continue to be saved by brave people who risk ridicule and rejection but end up turning huge tides of public opinion in the direction of righteousness. We owe them enormous debts of gratitude. It is not easy to stand up for what is right, especially when everyone else is afraid to leave the comfortable path of conformity.

Rosa Parks may have been alone on that bus at the moment of her arrest but she wasn't alone for long. The old order was shaken, the world was upended and, as a people, we were given a chance for a bit of redemption.

Perhaps the best way to celebrate this most important day in American history is to ask yourself what it is that you can do today to make a difference. What risk can you take to move the ball forward? What is that one thing you've been wanting to say to your co-workers or classmates that you've been afraid to say -- but in your heart of hearts you know needs to be said? Why wait another day to say it or do it?

There is probably no better way to honor Rosa Parks -- and yourself -- than for you to put a stop to an injustice you see, not allowing it to continue for one more second. Do something. Then send me an email (mike@michaelmoore.com) and tell all of us what you did (I'll post as many as I can).

LONDON (Reuters) - British police were searching for 85,000 pounds worth of fine cognac on Tuesday after a French truck driver was robbed as he slept in his truck.

The man was bundled out of his cab as he snoozed in a truck park in southern England. His assailants made off with his entire cargo of Courvoisier cognac.

I finally need to address something on the blog. For sometime now, I have listened to Bret's bantering about the Glorious Chicago Bears. In the begining of the season I thought it was all the same old thing. Pre-Season cocky with the hip hip hoorays, and expected the normal cheering that slowing fades away to a murmuring of next years season. "you wait until next year" "blah blah blah" "but mom..." I have been surprised the bears made it through pre-season and onto the regular season without their traditional embarassing shitty football with their fans jumping off the wagon by game 2.

So I came to realize after watching the bears go 7-3 its only a matter of time before they do what they do best. Embarass and dissapoint their ass-baby fans. Time will tell bret how long before you fall off your horse, you may win the division, but mark my words, thats it. Well let me tell you, Jack Murtha wasn't a coward when he put himself in harm's way for his country in Vietnam and earned two purple hearts -- he was a patriot then, and he is a patriot today. Jack Murtha's courage in combat earned him a Bronze Star, and his voice should be heard, not silenced by those who still today cut and run from the truth.

Instead of letting his cronies run their mouths, the President for once should stop his allies from doing to Jack Murtha what he set them loose to do to John McCain in South Carolina and Max Cleland in Georgia.

The President should finally find the courage to debate the real issue instead of destroying anyone who speaks truth to power as they see it. It's time for Americans to stand up, fight back, and make it clear it's unacceptable to do this to any leader of any party anywhere in our country.

On monday I went to the atmosphere concert at First Ave, it was awesome, but afterwards I slipped and almost broke my ankle...the other one.
I have been really addicted to desperate housewives. Its pretty frickin awesome, plus ryan carnes is in it.
I am getting ready tonight to go hunting this weekend, opening deer hunting in WI. Lots of brandy with my dad, and don't forget shooting deer.
At work today, when asked for the technical documentation for the REVEAL Admin guide, I said very loudly with just a pinch of smart ass: "Ask and ye shall receive!!" One of the kids told me that it was blasphemous. Eat me.
Last weekend I was in Osceola, lots of fun.

I know that I haven't been posting very much lately, but I have been really busy and it is hard to come home from work and blog.

Alright, last night I went out to happy hour after work, quite early actually, around 4. Went to applebees with Ed and Rob. Lets see, 2 car bombs, a guiness, gin and tonic, cabernet, 2 bloody mary's , 3 shots of jag, a premium. Thats it I think.

Bill came and we went to the Valley: 2 seven 7s, one captain and coke, two shots of jag, and they had two bottles wrapped in brown bags called mystery shots for $1. They were so gross, obviously, but I had one of each.

Now is when the fun happens, when I am all boozed up. Met some people there, played bowling with some of them, and talked to a bunch of girls. Now honestly, I don't know what happened, but I know it had something to do with a girls purse, me, and it getting blamed on someone else. As the heated purse drama was spinning up, I quickly got bill's attention and we left. It was time to go see char anyways.

Insert one more beer, a newcastle. So we go and see char, and lexi, and her bro and sis. We ended up going to denny's. The funny thing about her hotel room, was that there was a bottle opener attached to the wall in the bathroom, that was at the perfect level if you were sitting on the toliet. I got back around 4 and passed out. Now I am heading to o-town to see my family.

On some sad news Arrested Development is being canceled.

A new AP-Ipsos poll found the president's approval rating was at 37 percent, compared with 39 percent a month ago. About 59 percent of those surveyed said they disapproved.

The intensity of disapproval is the strongest to date, with 42 percent now saying they "strongly disapprove" of how Bush is handling his job - twice as many as the 20 percent who said they "strongly approve."

"This is the poorest excuse for a president this country has ever had," said Max Hollinberger, a businessman from Stanwood, Wash., who leans Democratic. He cited "the economy, going to war in Iraq for no reason, the way we can get to the tsunami victims before Katrina victims - the whole business."

"I think he's done a wonderful job," said Gloria Bloecher, a Republican from Sherman, Texas. "He's done wonderful things for the economy. He rescued people who needed help in Iraq - it was the Christian thing to do. I still trust his people and the people he picks for the Supreme Court."

Thirty-nine percent of those interviewed said they would vote for Bush in the hypothetical election.

On separate issues, a majority of those questioned felt the Democrats could do a better job than Republicans at handling health care (59 percent to 30 percent), Social Security (56 percent to 33 percent), gasoline prices (51 percent to 31 percent) and the economy (50 percent to 38 percent). Forty-six percent also believed Democrats could do better at handling Iraq, while 40 percent said the GOP would do better. In 2003, 53 percent said Republicans would better handle Iraq and only 29 percent believed the Democrats would do better.

Travis County court officials said DeLay was ordered to appear at the Fort Bend County, Texas, jail for booking, where he'd likely be fingerprinted and photographed. DeLay's lawyers had hoped to avoid such a spectacle.

The warrant, known as a capias, is "a matter of routine and bond will be posted," DeLay attorney Dick DeGuerin said.

The lawyer declined to say when DeLay would surrender to authorities but said the lawmaker would make his first court appearance Friday morning.

The charges against the Texas Republican stem from allegations that a DeLay-founded Texas political committee funneled corporate money into state GOP legislative races through the National Republican Party.

DeLay Will Likely Be Booked This Week

October 17,2005 AUSTIN, Texas - Rep. Tom DeLay will likely be booked in a Texas county jail this week despite attempts by his attorneys to bypass the fingerprinting and mug shot process.

The former House majority leader was forced to step down from the post last month when he was indicted by a Texas grand jury. DeLay initially was charged with conspiracy to violate the election code and days later was indicted on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to launder money in an alleged illegal scheme to funnel corporate money to Republican Texas legislative candidates.

DeLay's arraignment is set for Friday before state district Judge Bob Perkins in Travis County, Texas.

"Perkins believes that if God was charged with a felony, he would have to go through the booking process, too," said D'Ann Underwood, court coordinator for the judge.

Before Friday, DeLay, a Republican from Sugar Land, Texas, will likely spend about an hour being fingerprinted and photographed, she said. He'll also be required to state his attorneys for the record.

Travis County allows some defendants to do a "walkthrough" booking process, in which the defendant is photographed and fingerprinted. But DeLay's bond amount would be preset so he could immediately pay it and avoid a stay in jail.

DeLay also could waive going before a magistrate to have his rights and charges read to him.

At Friday's court appearance, Perkins has the discretion to rule on motions to dismiss the charges, as requested by defense attorneys, but may elect to do so at a later date. The hearing will likely take less than 20 minutes, Underwood said.
